Greivis Vasquez is having a solid month for the New Orleans Hornets

25-year old Greivis Vasquez has really played well filling in for Jarrett Jack so far this month.  Vasquez has played in 9 games (7 starts) in February so far and he is averaging 32.5 minutes, 12.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and 8.2 assists per game.  He is also shooting an outstanding 42.9% from three point range so far this month.  He has now played in 30 games (7 starts) for the Hornets so far this year and he is averaging 23.4 minutes, 8.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 1.2 steals per game.  The Hornets hope that Vasquez keeps up the good work.

The Hornets were outrebounded 47-37 last night but it didn’t matter as they were inspired last night.  Trevor Ariza (25 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals and 2 blocked shots) and Marco Belinelli (17 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist and 3 steals) led the way for the Hornets last night.  Greivis Vasquez (15 points, 1 rebound, 11 assists and 2 steals) and Gustavo Ayon (13 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals) also had rock solid games for the Hornets last night.  Chris Kaman pitched in with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists in this game.  The Hornets are now 7-23 on the year.

The Hornets turned up the D last night, holding the Bucks to 38.4% shooting from the floor which led to a nice road win.  Marco Belinelli (22 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists) and Chris Kaman (18 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 blocked shot) led the way for the Hornets last night.  Trevor Ariza (14 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots) and Gustavo Ayon (12 points, 12 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 steals) also pitched in with solid games last night.  The Hornets are now 6-23 on the year.

Emeka Okafor is going to miss some time for the New Orleans Hornets

29-year old starting center Emeka Okafor will likely be out until at least the All-Star Break due to a knee injury.  Okafor has played in 27 games (all starts) for the Hornets so far this year and he is averaging 28.9 minutes, 9.9 points, 7.9 rebounds, 0.9 assists and 1.0 blocked shot per game.  29-year old Chris Kaman has replaced Okafor in the starting lineup for now.  In his last four games, Kaman is averaging 18.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.8 blocked shots per game.  He has now played in 21 games (8 starts) for the Hornets so far this year and he is averaging 24.6 minutes, 10.9 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.3 blocked shots per game.  Okafor’s injury came at the right time for the Hornets as they have been able to showcase Chris Kaman for a trade.

The Hornets have signed 27-year old center Solomon Jones to a 10-day contract.  Jones played in 10 games (0 starts) earlier this year for the Clippers and he averaged 9.6 minutes, 0.6 points, 1.7 rebounds and 0.2 assists and per game.  He has now played in 257 games (10 starts) so far in his NBA career and he is averaging 10.8 minutes, 3.0 points, 2.3 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game.  The Hornets are desperate for a big man for the bench, so Jones should fit in well for them.

The Hornets were outrebounded 45-37 last night, but it didn’t matter in the end.  Chris Kaman led the way with a huge game for the Hornets as he finished up with 27 points, 13 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 blocked shot.  Gustavo Ayon also had a rock solid game last night for the Hornets as he finished up with 13 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 3 blocked shots.  Marco Belinelli (13 points, 2 assists and 2 steals) and Greivis Vasquez (12 points, 4 rebounds, 10 assists and 3 steals) also pitched in with solid games for the Hornets last night.  The Hornets are now 5-23 on the year.

The Hornets are now 4-23 on the season, so they might as well play their rookies a little more as they have nothing left to lose by doing so.  26-year old center Gustavo Ayon has played in 20 games (3 starts) for the Hornets so far this year and he is averaging 14.3 minutes, 4.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game.  He is also taking good shots as he is hitting 56.2% of them from the floor.  24-year old shooting guard David Sloan got into his first game for the Hornets and he worked 11 minutes in which he scored 7 points and had 2 assists.  He has now played in 6 games (0 starts) for the Hawks & Hornets so far this year and he is averaging 5.2 minutes, 2.2 points, 0.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game.

The Hornets were outscored 52-40 in the second half last night and it did them in.  Trevor Ariza led the way for the Hornets last night with 23 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals.  Emeka Okafor (13 points, 8 rebounds and 1 assist), Marco Belinelli (12 points, 1 rebound, 3 assists and 2 steals) and Al-Farouq Aminu (12 points, 5 rebounds and 1 steal) also pitched in for the Hornets last night.  The Hornets are now 4-23 on the year.

The Hornets shot 37.3% from the floor and they were outrebounded 49-39, which explains the beating they took at the hand of the Bulls last night.  Chris Kaman led the way for the Hornets last night with 17 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 blocked shots.  Marco Belinelli (13 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists) and Emeka Okafor (10 points and 9 rebounds) also pitched in last night for the Hornets.  The Hornets are now 4-22 on the year.

The Hornets have signed 24-year old shooting guard Donald Sloan to a 10-day contract.  Sloan played in 5 games (0 starts) earlier this year for the Hawks and he averaged 4.0 minutes, 1.2 points, 1.0 rebound and 1.0 assist per game.  Sloan will be sitting at the far end of the Hornets’ bench, so don’t expect much out of him.
