The Hornets will be without 28-year old power forward Carl Landry for the next 2-4 weeks due to a MCL sprain. Landry has played in 24 games (6 starts) for the Hornets so far this year and he is averaging 23.9 minutes, 11.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game. Look for 26-year old Gustavo Ayon and 29-year old Chris Kaman to see bumps in P.T. until Landry is ready to return to action. Kaman has played in 17 games (6 starts) for the Hornets so far this year and he is averaging 22.7 minutes, 9.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.2 blocked shots per game. The Hornets are likely going to use Kaman a lot while Landry is out to showcase him for a potential deal. Gustavo Ayon has played pretty well for a undrafted rookie so far this year. Ayon has played in 17 games (0 starts) for the Hornets so far this year and he is averaging 12.2 minutes, 4.7 points, 3.1 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game.

25-year old power forward Jason Smith needs to step up. The Hornets have recently moved Smith into the starting lineup and they are 1-9 in those games so far. Smith is averaging 23.4 minutes, 8.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game in his 10 starts so far this year. He is shooting 53.2% from the floor in his starts, so maybe the Hornets should get him more shots going forward. Smith has now played in 19 games (10 starts) for the Hornets so far this year and he is averaging 20.5 minutes, 8.4 points, 3.7 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 1.1 blocked shots. The Hornets need more out of Smith if they are going to keep him in the starting lineup much longer.
