28-year old center Emeka Okafor has really played well so far this year but he really has been solid in January.  Okafor has played in 15 games in January in which he has averaged 35.6 minutes, 12.2 points, 11.3 rebounds, 0.7 assists and 1.7 blocked shots so far this month and he’s shooting an amazing 64.7% from the floor!  He has now played in 48 games (all starts) for the Hornets this year and he is averaging 32.7 minutes, 11.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 1.8 blocked shots per game so far this year.  Okafor has been a force at both ends of the court as he has been one of the Hornets’ most valuable players this year.

The Hornets shot 62.2% from the floor last night which was outstanding!  David West (22 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot) and Trevor Ariza (19 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals) led the way for the Hornets last night.  Chris Paul did a good job of running the offense as he had 18 points, 2 rebounds and 17 assists).  Emeka Okafor (13 points) and Marco Belinelli (11 points) also pitched in last night.  The Hornets are now 31-16 on the year.

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Sunday 23 January 2011 at 7:16 pm

The Hornets outrebounded the Spurs 57-32 and they held them to 36.2% shooting from the floor which were the big reasons for the resounding home win last night.  They pretty much finished off the Spurs in the 3rd quarter when they outscored them 31-10.  David West led the way for the Hornets last night with 18 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 1 blocked shot.  Marcus Thornton was outstanding off the bench as he hit 7 of 10 shots from the floor (4 of 4 from 3-point range) to finish with 18 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 blocked shot in only 23 minutes on the floor.  Trevor Ariza (15 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal) and Chris Paul (11 points) also had solid games for the Hornets last night.  The Hornets are now 29-16 on the year.

The Hornets held the Hawks to 29.1% shooting from the floor and they outrebounded them 55-32 on their way to a laugher in Atlanta earlier tonight.  Chris Paul led the way for the Hornets in this game with 16 points, 3 rebounds, 8 assists and 3 steals.  David West (15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists) and Marco Belinelli (15 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist) also pitched in for the Hornets in this game.  Marcus Thornton was solid off the bench for the Hornets tonight with 11 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal in 22 minutes.  The Hornets are now 28-16 on the year after this very, very impressive road win!

Quincy Pondexter isn’t getting much P.T. for the New Orleans Hornets

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Rookie Reports by admin on Friday 21 January 2011 at 11:05 pm

The Hornets really like 22-year old rookie small forward Quincy Pondexter but they just don’t have much P.T. available for him this year.  Pondexter has played in 34 games (0 starts) for the Hornets so far this year and he is averaging 10.2 minutes, 2.6 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game.  Pondexter will likely have a big role for the Hornets down the road but for now he will need to practice hard and play well when he gets a few minutes.

Jarrett Jack needs to play more for the New Orleans Hornets

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Need to step up by admin on Friday 21 January 2011 at 11:01 pm

With Marcus Thornton in the Dog House and Marco Belinelli being a so-so player, the Hornets should get 27-year old Jarrett Jack on the floor more as he can handle both guard spots.  Jack has played in 10 games so far this January and he is averaging 19.4 minutes, 9.0 points 1.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.   Jack has now played in 31 games (0 starts) for the Hornets this season and he is averaging 17.1 minutes, 6.8 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.  His shooting has been off for the Hornets (37.5% from the floor and 30.3% from three point range) and a big reason for that could be P.T. as he is used to playing 30+ minutes a night.
