Reserve center Aaron Gray is doing a solid job of backing up Emeka Okafor. He has played in 15 games (0 starts) for the Hornets this season and he is averaging 10.9 minutes, 3.2 points, 3.7 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game. Gray is also shooting an amazing 65.6% from the floor with the Hornets so far. Gray is looking like a solid addition to the Hornets since coming over in a trade with the Bulls earlier this year.

Chris Paul is back from injury to reclaim his starting point guard spot. Paul has played in 39 games (all starts) for the Hornets this season and he is averaging 38.3 minutes, 20.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 10.9 assists and 2.2 steals per game. Paul is shooting 50.3% from the floor, 42.7% from three point range and 86.2% from three point range so far this season. The one bright spot while Chris Paul was out was the play of Darren Collison who really did a great job of running the team. It will be interesting to see if the Hornets start Paul & Collison together despite them both being smaller guys.

The New Orleans Hornets lose Sean Marks for the year

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Front Page, Injuries by alleyoop on Monday 15 March 2010 at 10:13 am

The Hornets have lost 34-year old power forward Sean Marks for the rest of the year due to shoulder surgery. Marks played in 14 games (0 starts) for the Hornets this season and he averaged 5.4 minutes, 0.7 points, 1.6 rebounds and 0.1 assists per game. Losing Marks won’t hurt the Hornets at all the rest of the way as he didn’t do much for them this year.

The New Orleans Hornets lose Peja Stojakovic

Blogged under Bloglockers, General, Big Hornets News, Need to step up, Front Page, Injuries by alleyoop on Friday 12 March 2010 at 10:07 pm

The Hornets have lost starting small forward Peja Stojakovic for the next 2-4 weeks due to a abdominal strain. Stojakovic has played in 62 games (55 starts) this season for the Hornets and he is averaging 31.4 minutes, 12.6 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. The Hornets will likely get Julian Wright out of mothballs and put him into the starting lineup. Wright has played in 53 games (8 starts) for the Hornets this season and he is averaging 11.4 minutes, 3.3 points, 2.1 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game. The Hornets will also likely use rookie Marcus Thornton some at shooting guard the rest of the year to help cushion the loss of Stojakovic.
