The New Orleans Hornets re-sign Sean Marks

The Hornets have re-signed 34-year old C/F Sean Marks to a 1-year deal. Marks played in 60 games (5 starts) for the Hornets last season and he averaged 14.0 minutes, 3.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game. He has now played in 187 games (11 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 10.6 minutes, 3.1 points, 2.3 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game. This was a good depth signing for the Hornets as Marks should be able to give them some solid minutes off the bench.

The New Orleans Hornets trade Rasual Butler to the Clippers

Blogged under Big Hornets News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,General by alleyoop on Wednesday 12 August 2009 at 8:02 pm

The Hornets have traded 30-year old SG/SF Rasual Butler to the Clippers for a future 2nd round pick. Butler played in 82 games (74 starts) for the Hornets last season and he averaged 31.9 minutes, 11.2 points, 3.3 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game. Butler played 4 years for the Hornets appearing in 293 games (140 starts) in which he averaged 25.9 minutes, 9.1 points, 2.9 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game. This was not a good move for the Hornets but they do have a bunch of players able to compete for Butler’s minutes so I might be surprised here.

The New Orleans Hornets sign forward Ike Diogu

Blogged under Big Hornets News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page by alleyoop on Saturday 1 August 2009 at 8:11 am

The Hornets have signed 25-year old forward Ike Diogu to a 1-year deal. Diogu played in 29 games (1 start) last season for the Blazers and Kings averaging 7.4 minutes, 4.1 points, 1.9 rebounds and 0.1 assists per game. He has now played in 187 games (18 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 12.4 minutes, 6.1 points, 3.1 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game. Diogu should really help the Hornets with some muscle off the bench. The Hornets have really improved the front line this off season.
