The New Orleans Hornets acquire Emeka Okafor
The New Orleans Hornets stung the Charlotte Bobcats by acquiring Emeka Okafor straight up for Tyson Chandler. The 26-year old Okafor will replace Chandler as the starting center on the Hornets. He played in 82 games (81 starts) for the Hornets last season and he averaged 32.8 minutes, 13.2 points, 10.1 rebounds, 0.6 assists and 1.7 blocked shots per game. Okafor has now played five seasons in the NBA appearing in 330 games (326 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 34.0 minutes, 14.0 points, 10.7 rebounds, 0.9 assists and 1.8 blocked shots per game. Okafor is a better rebounder and offensive player than Chandler is so you have to view this trade as a upgrade for the Hornets. Chandler played in 45 games last season for the Hornets last season and he averaged 32.1 minutes, 8.8 points, 8.7 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 1.2 blocked shots per game.
