The New Orleans Hornets aren’t getting much from their rookies

The Hornets are a veteran team that’s on a roll so they don’t have much playing time for the rookies. Forward Julian Wright was the Hornets #1 pick this season but he hasn’t gotten an opportunity to show what he can do quite yet. He has played in 20 games this season and he is averaging 10.1 minutes, 2.2 points, 2.2 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. On a bright note he’s shooting 47.5% from the floor which is pretty decent. The Hornets other rookie is guard Adam Haluska who hasn’t played in a game this season due to injury.

Jannero Pargo played really well for the Hornets last season but this season has been a different story. Pargo has played in 20 games so far this season and he is averaging 16.1 minutes, 6.5 points, 1.0 rebound and 2.3 assists per game. He also has shot really poorly as he’s only hitting 37.1% from the floor this season. If Pargo doesn’t shoot better soon he will start to lose minutes for the Hornets.

Tyson Chandler is proving that last season was not a fluke as he’s dominating the paint once again. Chandler has played in 20 games this season and he has averaged 33.1 minutes, 11.5 points, 11.1 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.4 blocked shots per game. Chandler is a intimidating force at both ends of the basketball court as he’s turning into one of the best centers in the NBA.

The Hornets are off to an outstanding start this season as they are currently in 2nd place in the Southwest Division with a 14-7 record which has them 3.5 games behind the Spurs. The Hornets have been winning games with defense as they are only allowing 94.0 points per game this season. As long as the Hornets stay healthy they are going to win a lot of games this season.

Rookie guard Adam Haluska will miss up to the next two months for the Hornets with a severely sprained ankle. Haluska hurt his ankle in practice which has been his only action this season as he has yet to play in a game. The veteran Hornets won’t miss Haluska much while he’s out.
