The New Orleans Hornets sign Morris Peterson

Blogged under Big Hornets News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page by alleyoop on Friday 13 July 2007 at 7:12 pm

The Hornets have signed Morris Peterson to a 4-year contract and he will become their starting shooting guard.  He played in 71 games (12 starts) last season for the Raptors and he averaged 21.3 minutes, 8.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game.  He shot 42.9% from the floor, 35.9% from three point range and 68.3% from the free throw line.

Peterson has played in 542 games (364 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 29.6 minutes, 12.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.0 steal per game.  He has hit 42.1% from the floor, 37.1% from three point range and 78.2% from the free throw line.

This was a nice signing by the Hornets who needed a good outside shooter for their offense and Peterson can definately do that.

Hornets add Peterson and Raptor fans become Hornet fans!

I don’t think that will happen Janice. The Raptors have a pretty nice basketball team. If the Hornets could just stay healthy this season they will be a good team. Replacing Desmond Mason with Morris Peterson will definately help the Hornets outside shooting.
