The Hornets prevail at home 84-78 at home in OT

Blogged under Front Page,Game Recaps by Nothing but Net on Wednesday 17 January 2007 at 2:02 pm

The Hornets really played great defense as they held the Magic to 34.9% shooting from the floor and that helped them win this game.  Jannero Pargo had a great game off the bench and led the Hornets in scoring with 25 points.  Desmond Mason didn’t shoot well (6 of 18) but he still wound up with 21 points and 9 rebounds.  Rasual Butler also had a great game with 19 points and 11 rebounds.

The Hornets need Jannero Pargo to be more efficient

Blogged under Front Page,Need to step up by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 16 January 2007 at 11:11 pm

Jannero Pargo needs to shoot better if he’s really going to help the Hornets during their big time of need with all the injuries that have hit them.  Pargo is only shooting 38.1% from the floor and 33.9% on three-pointers, and those percentages need to improve.  He has played in 36 games and has averaged 10.9 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game this season.

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Saturday 13 January 2007 at 1:11 pm

The Hornets stunned the Wizards last night and the Hornets shot the lights out as they connected on 54.5% of their shots for the game.  Desmond Mason had a solid all-around game with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists.  Rasual Butler also had a good game with 20 points and 6 rebounds.

Bobby Jackson playing with pain

Blogged under Front Page,Injuries by Nothing but Net on Thursday 11 January 2007 at 3:09 pm

Bobby Jackson is a trooper.  He’s been playing even though he has five cracked ribs.  Jackson is averaging 23.3 minutes, 10.6 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game this season.  The Hornets are lucky that Jackson is tough because they can’t afford to lose another good player with Chris Paul, Peja Stojakovic and David West all out.

The Hornets unload on the Hawks 96-77 in Atlanta

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Thursday 11 January 2007 at 1:47 pm

The Hornets did a great job of playing defense as they held the Hawks to 33.3% shooting from the floor.  The Hornets were also very efficient on offense as they hit 52.3% from the floor.  Jannero Pargo had a great game off the bench with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists.  Rasual Butler also had a good all-around game with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.

Injuries destroying Hornets season

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 9 January 2007 at 9:18 pm

The Hornets are having a problem fielding a starting caliber NBA team on alot of nights because of the massive injuries they have suffered.  They sit in 4th place in the Southwest Division of the Western Conference with a 12-22 record which has them 14.5 games behind the division leading Mavericks.  The Hornets have been awful on offense as they’re only averaging 89.6 points per game which in last in the NBA.  They also can’t shoot as they are only hitting 43.1% of their shots which ranks 29th in the NBA.  The Hornets leading three scorers on the season are all out for an extended period of time.  Chris Paul (18.4 points), Peja Stojakovic (17.8 points) and David West (17.4 points) have all been sorely missed.  Desmond Mason is the leading scorer of the Hornets that are actually playing and he’s only averaging 13.1 points per game this season.  Rasual Butler (10.7), Bobby Jackson (10.6) and Jannero Pargo (10.5) are the only Hornets averaging over 10 points per game of the guys that are currently playing.  Things will continue to go badly for the Hornets until they get their big guns back.  The Grizzlies will probably pass them up shortly and put the Hornets in the basement.

The Hornets fall again 100-90 to the Clippers at home

The under-manned Hornets got lit up in the 4th quarter as the Clippers outscored them 28-17 which is why they lost the game.  Desmond Mason led the way with 28 points and 5 rebounds.  Devin Brown also had a solid all-around game with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists.

Desmond Mason picking up his play

Blogged under Front Page,Steppin Up by Nothing but Net on Sunday 7 January 2007 at 9:31 pm

With all the injuries that the Hornets have suffered this season they needed someone to step up on offense and Desmond Mason has been that guy lately.  Mason has been hot his last 7 games as he’s hitting 51% from the floor in those games.  Mason has averaged 18.0 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game over the last 7 games.  The Hornets need Mason to keep playing at this level until they start to get some of their injured players back.

The Hornets get beat at home 100-93

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Sunday 7 January 2007 at 12:42 pm

The Hornets were just out-manned again last night as they lost again.  Desmond Mason had a great game with 28 points and 4 rebounds so you can’t blame him for the loss.  Jannero Pargo added 14 ponts and 6 assists off the bench.

Hornets get thumped 92-68 at home by the Pistons

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Friday 5 January 2007 at 10:07 am

The Hornets never had a chance in this basketball game as they fell behind 58-32 in the first half.  The Hornets also only hit 33% of their shots from the floor and that didn’t help things at all.  Jannero Pargo had an awful game shooting the ball (6 of 24) and wound up with 16 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals.  Desmond Mason had a solid game with 15 points and 5 rebounds.  Devin Brown had another solid game off the bench with 14 points and 8 rebounds.  Tyson Chandler only scored 3 points, but he snatched up 16 rebounds.

The Hornets fell to 12-20 on the season with this loss.
