Desmond Mason needs to pick his play back up

Blogged under Need to step up, Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 23 January 2007 at 11:56 pm

Desmond Mason hasn’t shot well the last 5 games (32.4%) and it’s hurting his game.  Over the last five games, Mason is averaging 38.0 minutes, 12.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game.  Mason just needs to take better shots to improve his shooting % and help the team.

Jannero Pargo & Rasual Butler steppin’ up

Blogged under Steppin Up, Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 23 January 2007 at 11:52 pm

Jannero Pargo has played well off the bench for the Hornets.  In his last 5 games, Pargo is averaging 28.4 minutes, 18.4 points, 2.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.2 steals per game.  His shooting has been right on target as he’s hit 56.3% of his shots from the floor in those 5 games.  He’s also hit 13 of 20 (65%) from three-point range.

Rasual Butler has been outstanding in his last 5 starts.  In those 5 games, Butler averaged 39.6 minutes, 17.8 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.  He has also been shooting well as he hit 51.4% from the floor and he also nailed 11 of 26 three-pointers.  Both of these guys have been big keys to keeping the Hornets season afloat during the major rash of injuries that stung the Hornets.

The Hornets didn’t have much of a chance in this basketball game.  David West did return from injury for the Hornets and that was definately good news for them.  He led the way for the Hornets with 19 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists.  Bobby Jackson also had a decent game off the bench and scored 14 points and grabbed 3 rebounds.

The Hornets fell to 15-23 on the season with this loss.  http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=270119024
