Chris Paul the latest to miss time

Blogged under Front Page,Injuries by Nothing but Net on Friday 29 December 2006 at 12:43 am

The Hornets will be without their best player, Chris Paul, for 4 weeks with a severely sprained right ankle.  Paul has averaged 18.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 9.0 assists and 1.8 steals per game so far this season.  Jannero Pargo will run the point until Paul returns, but he’s nowhere near the point guard that Paul is.  Pargo is averaging 9.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game so far this season.

The Hornets get stung by the Blazers 100-85

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Thursday 28 December 2006 at 11:04 pm

The Hornets really didn’t have much of a chance in this game due to all of the injuries that have beset them.  Rasual Butler had a decent game with 16 points and 6 rebounds.  Desmond Mason had a good all-around game with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists.  Jannero Pargo got the start at point guard for the injured Chris Paul and wound up with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.  Devin Brown was solid off the bench with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists.  Cedric Simmons also provided some punch for the Hornets with 10 points and 5 rebounds.  Tyson Chandler had a solid game around the rim with 5 points, 7 rebounds and 5 blocked shots.

The Hornets fell to 11-17 on the season with this loss.

Hornets can’t keep up with Sonics in 102-94 loss

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Wednesday 27 December 2006 at 12:43 pm

The Hornets played no defense as the Sonics hit an amazing 54.5% from the floor for the game.  But the worst part of this game is that Chris Paul went down with an ankle injury after only playing 11 minutes.  He did not return and wound up with 2 points, 2 rebounds and 7 assists.  Jannero Pargo picked it up without Paul in the game and would up with 23 points and 5 assists.  Desmond Mason had a solid game with 21 points and 7 rebounds.  Tyson Chandler had a great night in the paint with 14 points and 11 rebounds.  Devin Brown had a great game off the bench with 16 points and 9 rebounds.  Rasual Butler had an awful shooting night (2 of 15) and wound up with 8 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.

The Hornets fell to 11-16 on the season with this loss.

The Hornets get stung 112-77 at home by the Spurs

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 26 December 2006 at 3:04 pm

This was never a game as the Spurs crushed the Hornets on their home court.  The Hornets only shot 37.3% from the floor and allowed the Spurs to hit an amazing 62.9% of their shots as a team!  Chris Paul (20 points) and Rasual Butler (16 points) led the way for the Hornets.  Jannero Pargo added 11 points off the bench.  Desmond Mason (10 points, 7 rebounds) was pretty active in this game.

The Hornets fell to 11-15 on the season with this loss.

Two major injuries hurtin the Hornets

Blogged under Front Page,Injuries by Nothing but Net on Saturday 23 December 2006 at 2:07 pm

The Hornets have lost two key starting players for while.  Peja Stojakovic (major back surgery) and David West (arthoscopic elbow surgery) will both miss alot of time in the near future.  The Hornets are banking on guys like Rasual Butler, Hilton Armstrong, Cedric Simmons and Marc Jackson to provide big-time minutes until the pair of stars return…..and it doesn’t look pretty.

Stojakovic had major back surgery last Sunday to remove a disc fragment in his back.  He will miss up to 2 months with this injury.  Stojakovic was averaging 17.8 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.  He also was hitting an outstanding 40.5% of his 3-pointers, which will be very hard for the Hornets to replace.

David West had arthoscopic surgery on his right elbow on Wednesday morning and will miss the next 2-8 weeks.  He was averaging 17.4 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game this season.

The Hornets play great team ball and win 100-97 over the Grizzlies

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Saturday 23 December 2006 at 11:19 am

The Hornets were mad men on the glass as they outrebounded the Grizzlies 57-37 last night.  The Hornets also did a good job of spreading the points around as no one scored more than 19 points.  Marc Jackson had a monster game off the bench with 19 points and 10 rebounds.  Jannero Pargo also supplied firepower off the bench with 17 points.  Desmond Mason had a strong game as he played close to the rim and wound up with 17 points and 12 rebounds.  Chris Paul had an off-night shooting the ball (3 of 12) but still wound up with 15 points and 14 assists.  Hilton Armstrong got a rare start and played well scoring 14 points and grabbing 5 rebounds.  Rasual Butler added 12 points.

This was a nice win for the Hornets that improves thier record to 11-14 on the season.

Hornets shooting cold as ice in 86-83 loss to Magic

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Thursday 21 December 2006 at 6:12 pm

The Hornets got outscored 22-15 in the 4th quarter and only shot 36.9% from the floor and that’s the 2 big reasons that they lost this basketball game.

Chris Paul played an inspired game as he scored 19 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished out 10 assists.  Jannero Pargo added 16 points off the bench.  Rasual Butler scored 15 points.  Desmond Mason only hit 3 of 12 shots, but he still scored 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals.  Bobby Jackson returned from injury and scored 11 points off the bench.  Tyson Chandler only scored 2 points, but he grabbed 11 rebounds, blocked 4 shots and stole the ball twice.

The Hornets lost their 4th game in a row and fell to 10-14 on the season.

Tyson Chandler playing great defense for Hornets

Blogged under Front Page,Steppin Up by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 19 December 2006 at 2:47 am

When the Hornets traded for Tyson Chandler, all they wanted him to do was play defense and rebound.  He’s been great at both of those things.  Chandler is averaging 5.6 points, 11.9 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game so far this season.  Chandler is nailing 67.6% of his shots from the floor, but most of them are dunks and putbacks.  He must improve his free-throw shooting because he’s only hitting 32.6% of his free-throws for the season and that is downright pitiful.

Hornets only score 36 in second half and fall 101-99 to the Heat

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 19 December 2006 at 2:42 am

Thing were looking good in the first half as the Hornets raced out to a 63-54 lead.  The second half was a disaster as the Heat outscored them 47-36.  Chris Paul led the way with another big effort.  He scored 26 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, dished out 8 assists and stole the ball 3 times.  Rasual Butler had a good game in Miami with 21 points and 8 rebounds.  Jannero Pargo had a good game off the bench with 14 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists.  Tyson Chandler played a pretty good game as he scored 10 points, grabbed 8 rebounds, stole the ball twice and blocked 3 shots.  Desmond Mason added 10 points.

The Hornets fell to 10-13 with this loss.

Hornets stung by Mavericks 90-79

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Sunday 17 December 2006 at 3:14 am

The under-manned Hornets couldn’t keep up with the Mavericks who outrebounded them 50-39.  Chris Paul had a fantastic game with 30 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists.  Rasual Butler also had a decent game with 19 points, 4 rebounds and 3 steals.  Marc Jackson had a decent game with 13 points and 5 rebounds.

The Hornets fell to 10-12 on the season with this loss.
