Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 28 November 2006 at 11:34 pm

The Hornets dug themselves a huge hole that they couldn’t get out of on Saturday Night.  The Mavericks won the first quarter 35-16 and it was all downhill for the Hornets after that.  The Hornets also continued to be mired in a shooting slump as they only hit 35.6% of their shots from the floor.

Jannero Pargo led the way with 19 points and 5 rebounds.  Josh Paul had a decent game with 12 points, 4 assists and 5 steals.  Bobby Jackson pitched in with 10 points.

The Hornets fell to 8-6 with this loss.

Chris Paul came to play with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists.  Bobby Jackson scored 13 points.  Jannero Pargo had a decent game off the bench with 13 points and 4 assists.  Tyson Chandler was tough around the basket with 6 points and 10 rebounds.  Peja Stojakovic was a little off as he only hit 3 of 15 shots from the floor.  He wound up with 8 points and 9 rebounds.

The Hornets fell to 8-5 on the season with this loss.

Hornets cool the Heat 101-86

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Wednesday 22 November 2006 at 11:44 pm

The Hornets had a huge 4th quarter as they outscored the Heat 26-15 to seal the victory.  The Hornets played great team defense as they held the Heat to 36.8% shooting last night.

Peja Stojakovic led the way on offense with 23 points.  Desmond Mason had a solid game with 17 points and 5 rebounds.  Bobby Jackson was solid off the bench with 14 points and 6 rebounds.  Marc Jackson got to start this game and finished with 12 points.  Chris Paul had a very active game with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists.  Rasual Butler added 10 points and 7 rebounds off the bench.  Tyson Chandler provided the muscle with 7 points, 18 rebounds and 3 steals.

This win improved the Hornets to 8-3 on the season.

Hornets get huge win over Pistons 100-99

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Thursday 16 November 2006 at 9:24 am

The Hornets were missing two of their starting players (Tyson Chandler and David West) but their young replacements had key roles in the victory.

Chris Paul had a great game leading the offense with 20 points, 3 rebounds and 13 assists.  Rookie Hilton Armstrong had a great game and made the game-winning free-throw.  He also missed the second free-throw and got the rebounds to seal the deal.  Armstrong scored 17 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in his first NBA start.  Peja Stojakovic looked tired after his big game the other night and he scored 14 points.  Brandon Bass also got the start and he played well with 12 points & 7 rebounds.  Bobby Jackson had a good game off of the bench with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists.

The Hornets out-rebounded the Pistons 44-35, but their defense was a little soft allowing the Pistons to hit 52.1% of their shots from the floor.  The Hornets improved to 6-3 after their huge road win.

Peja leads Hornets to 94-85 victory over the Bobcats

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Wednesday 15 November 2006 at 3:38 pm

Peja Stojakovic was on fire last night with 42 points and 8 rebounds.  Peja was unstoppable as he was hitting shots all over the court.  Bobby Jackson (14 points) and Jennero Pargo (13 points) both helped out of the bench and the Hornets really needed them last night.  Chris Paul had a bad shooting night (0 for 8 from the floor) and only scored 2 points.  Paul did have 10 assists and 3 steals so he helped out without scoring alot last night.  Tyson Chandler only scored 2 points, but he grabbed 15 rebounds and lost a couple teeth in the 4th quarter.

The Hornets have improved to 5-3 this season, and won without their best player producing last night…and that’s a step in the right direction for the Hornets.

Hornets fall flat in 92-76 loss to Clippers

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Monday 13 November 2006 at 10:54 am

The Hornets just looked flat in the game against the Clippers last night.  Chris Paul (20 points), Bobby Jackson (12 points) & Peja Stojakovic (11 points) were the only Hornets players that scored in double figures.  Tyson Chandler came to play with 8 points, 13 rebounds and 2 blocked shots.

The Hornets fell to 4-3 after the lackluster effort that put out last night.

Centers

Tyson Chandler was acquired in a trade with the Chicago Bulls.  Chandler will bring defense and rebounding to the center position for the Hornets.  Chandler has averaged 7.1 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game over his career.

Hilton Armstrong, one of the Hornets first round picks this season, is a shot-blocking defensive player that needs work on offense.  His energy will help the team off of the bench.
