The Hornets acquired Marcus Thornton from the Miami Heat on Draft Night. He played in 118 games in four seasons at Kilgore Community College and LSU where he averaged 20.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.1 steals per game. Thornton will be a fan favorite for the Hornets seeing how he played his last two seasons at LSU. That’s not the reason that the Hornets selected Thornton……they picked him because he’s got game.

The New Orleans Hornets selected 21-year old guard Darren Collison with the 21st pick in the NBA Draft last night. Collison played in 142 games in his 4-year career with the UCLA Bruins and he averaged 11.5 points, 2.3 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.6 steals per game. Collison likely will project as a backup at both guard spots as a rookie. He brings a nice long range stroke as he nailed 43.5% of his three pointers in college. This was a solid pick for the Hornets.

The Hornets have signed C/F Sean Marks. Marks is a 32-year old journeyman who will likely sit at the end of the bench for the Hornets this season. He played in 19 games (0 starts) for the Suns last season and he averaged 6.8 minutes, 3.1 points, 1.9 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game. Marks has nice size at 6′10″, 250 pounds but he’s a tad soft. Don’t look for Marks to do much this season for the Hornets.
